A Clinical Obsevation of Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease


Abstract
77 Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were studied clinically. And following results were obtained.
1) Patients consist of 53 male and 24 female. Average age of male was 59.6 years, and that of female was 587.2 years.
2) The average duration of dyspnea and cough was 6.0 years and 7.6 years respectively. The most frequent type of onset was dyspnea without cough(69%).
3) 48% of patients complained of subjective wheezing, and wheezing on physical examination was observed in 59% of patients.
4) Average duration of smoking in male was 28 years, and the amount was 10 packs/week.
5) In pulmonary function test, FEVl and FEVl/FVC were decreased markedly.
6) 22% of Patients showed normal findings in chest X-ray, and the most frequent findings were thickened bronchial walls and prominent lung marking(57%).
7) 57% of patients showed normal EKG findings, and RAD pattern was most frequent(36%).
